What Is the Rehabilitation Process Like?
When Should a Drug Addict Be Interned?
Internment for someone who has reached the stage of addiction is one of the most common and effective procedures for addiction treatment. This is something we should consider once problematic addictive behaviors are detected.
How to Intern a Drug Addict?
We must understand that a person in the stage of addiction has little awareness of the problem. They often exhibit denial, justification, minimization, manipulation, or ineffective promises of change, driving families into chaos and desperation. Controlling self-destructive behaviors (substance use, gambling, self-harm, binge eating, restrictions, etc.) can be difficult, but we can have a significant impact on the problem and the decision to accept help.
How to Intervene with an Addict to Get Them to Accept Treatment?
Getting a person with an addiction to accept inpatient rehab is a family process, known as an “intervention.” During a planned meeting, family members express their concerns in the first person about the behaviors observed, highlighting the consequences these behaviors have had on them. It’s important to avoid labeling the person (e.g., “alcoholic,” “drug addict,” “irresponsible”) and have a plan of action in case they accept help, as well as outlining what will happen if they refuse treatment.
This activity can be repeated over time to talk openly and without fear about how the problem impacts the family, while also establishing consequences for the absence of treatment.
How Long Should a Drug Addict Stay in Rehab?
Completing a Treatment Program improves the effectiveness of the intervention. The average duration is 12 to 14 months, during which detoxification, habit-breaking, and the creation of habits to reinforce a new lifestyle are achieved.
What Is an Inpatient Rehab Center for Alcoholics?
It is a residential work modality aimed at detoxification and habit-breaking from substances. It includes a series of therapeutic stages and processes. Alcoholism is a widespread and often minimized issue, which is usually treated late, making it necessary to have a comprehensive intervention.
How Much Does It Cost to Intern an Alcoholic?
Treatment is always more cost-effective than maintaining the problem. A person without treatment still requires food, shelter, and must cover the expenses resulting from addiction, such as consumption costs, vehicular accidents, medical care, etc. In this case, it is better to invest in treatment.
Where Can I Go to Help a Drug Addict?
There are various care alternatives depending on the severity of the problem. If the person still maintains roles (education, work, family), an intensive outpatient treatment may be appropriate. If these roles are affected or outpatient treatment repeatedly fails, inpatient rehab becomes necessary.
How Long Should Someone Stay in Rehab?
Completing a Treatment Program improves the effectiveness of the intervention. The average duration is 12 to 14 months, during which detoxification, habit-breaking, and the creation of habits to reinforce a new lifestyle are achieved.
How Long Does Detoxification Take?
Detoxification is the first stage of addiction treatment. It must be accompanied by outpatient therapy and affiliation with mutual aid groups (Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, etc.) to achieve habit-breaking and lifestyle changes.
